Woman beaten in Pune: Retired engineer, wife arrested in road rage incident

retired engineer

and his wife have been arrested in Pune following a

road rage incident

where a 27-year-old woman was

beaten

. The incident took place on Baner-Pashan Road on Saturday afternoon.
The victim, Jerlyn Dsilva, a marketing and communications manager at Sheraton Grand Pune, was riding her two-wheeler with her two children, aged seven and nine, when a speeding car driven by the accused splashed mud on them.

After Dsilva told the driver to drive properly, he followed her for 2 kilometers, blocked her way, and punched her in the face while his wife encouraged him from the car.
Dsilva sustained severe injuries and was bleeding from her nose. She recorded a video detailing the incident and posted it on Instagram, where it quickly went viral, raising concerns about women's safety in Pune.
The accused have been charged under sections 118(1), 74, 115(2), 352, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicle Act. The case has been registered at Chaturshrungi Police Station, and investigations are ongoing.

Residents of Baner and nearby areas have expressed concern over this incident and other issues such as speeding and the lack of CCTV camera coverage, highlighting the need for better safety measures and stricter enforcement of traffic laws in the area.
