World No. 1 T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav suffered an injury scare during India's training session at Bridgetown in Barbados on Monday, June 17. The star batter was hit on the hand while he was batting in the nets. However, Suryakumar shook off the blow and continued batting after receiving attention from the physio. A bit of magic spray did the magic as the Mumbai batter completed his batting session.
It was the first time that the Indian players trained in the Caribbean islands after having arrived in Barbados on Sunday evening. India had an optional training session on Monday morning, but the entire team, including captain Rohit Sharma and former captain Virat Kohli, attended it to get a feel of the conditions in Barbados.
India take on Afghanistan in their first Super 8s match in Barbados on Thursday, June 20. It will be the first match for the 2007 champions in the Caribbean as Inida played all their Group A games in the United States. India played 3 games in New York while their last game against Canada in Florida on Saturday was washed out due to rain, robbing India of game time to experiment with their combination.
Suryakumar was the pick of the batters for India against the USA after Saurabh Netravalkar hurt the top-order. The No. 1 batter hit a gritty fifty to help India chase down a tricky total in New York.
INTENSE BATTING SESSION FOR VIRAT KOHLI
Virat Kohli, meanwhile, looked focused and determined in an extended practice session as he batted in the nets for close to 40 minutes. It was hot and humid in Barbados, but Kohli carried on, facing a variety of bowlers, including Jasprit Bumrah. Kohli tried to be aggressive against the pacers and even hit Bumrah for a six with a slog sweep.

Kohli was seen chatting continuously with batting coach Vikram Rathour, who oversaw the batting practice. In fact, head coach Rahul Dravid was seen helping Virat Kohli with a few throwdowns.
Virat Kohli showed the hunger to overcome a slow start to the T20 World Cup. The former captain has managed just 5 runs in 3 innings. He got ouf for 4 against Pakistan, 1 against Ireland. He was dismissed by Saurabh Netravalkar for a golden duck against USA.
Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja was another batter who spent a considerable amount of time in the middle. The all-rounder was seen practising range-hitting along with Hardik Pandya.
It remains to be seen if Ravindra Jadeja will get to retain his place in the XI after having not done much in the group stage. Jadeja got out for a duck in his only batting appearance against Pakistan and hasn't had much success with the ball too. If India decide to play three spinners, Kuldeep Yadav is likely to join Jadeja and Axar Patel in the XI.
