Mangesh Yadav, the main suspect in the Sultanpur jewellery shop robbery, was killed in a shootout with Uttar Pradesh Police's Special Task Force.

Uttar Pradesh Police
on Thursday.
The accused
Mangesh Yadav
, was carrying Rs 1 lakh reward on his head.
The encounter took place near Mishirpur-Puraina village under the
Dehat Kotwali
area in Sultanpur.
Additional DG, Law and Order, Amitabh Yash, said that Mangesh Yadav, hailing from Jaunpur, was the prime suspect in the daylight robbery at Bharat Jewellers, which took place on August 28.
"The STF intercepted Mangesh and his accomplice. Mangesh was asked to surrender but he opened fire at the STF team.
In retaliatory fire Mangesh was shot while his accomplice managed to escape. Mangesh was immediately rushed to the district hospital where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment," said deputy superintendent of police, STF, DK Shahi.
The STF recovered a cache of weapons from the site, including a .32 caliber pistol, cartridges, a .315 bore country-made gun, a motorbike, and the stolen jewellery.
STF said that Mangesh Yadav had a history of criminal activities with multiple cases registered against him.
So far in the Sultanpur dacoity case, three were held after encounter with Sultanpur police, one had surrendered in the court, and was killed in exchange of fire with STF. However, 11 still are elusive in the case.
