Speeding car injures Filipina bride-to-be, 2 others in Canacona

Canacona/Margao: The pre-wedding preparations of a 34-year-old Filipina, Labaso Farrah Salamat, were marred in Canacona on Thursday night.
Salamat, who was set to marry a local man on Friday, was injured when she was struck by a speeding car while walking with her mother and aunt.
The bride-to-be, along with her 54-year-old mother, Abdel Jovi Salamat, and aunt, Virador Marilov Salamat, 52, was walking by the roadside, heading towards a nearby restaurant for dinner when a four-wheeler, going towards Agonda, hit them and sped away.
The three were rushed to the community health centre, Canacona. While two of them sustained simple injuries and were discharged soon after treatment, one was referred to the South Goa district hospital, Margao, for further treatment.

Canacona police inspector, Harish Raut Dessai said that a preliminary inquiry by police revealed that after hitting the three pedestrians, the car went off the road and fell on its side.
The speeding car is reportedly owned by Agonda resident Rushikesh Pagi, as per documents found in the car. However, it is still not clear who was driving the car, the police informed. Head constable Paresh Velip is investigating the case under the supervision of PI Raut Dessai.
