2 Punjab ex-cops convicted of '92 fake encounter

special CBI court

Friday convicted two former

Punjab Police

officials for murder of two youths in a fake encounter over two decades ago in Amritsar's Majitha. The court acquitted two other former cops in the case, reports Barinderjit Saluja.
Court convicted ex-SHO

Gurbhinder Singh

and ex-ASI

Parshotam Singh

for killing

Baldev Singh alias Deba

and

Lakhwinder Singh alias Lakha

on September 13, 1992. Additionally, Parshotam was convicted under IPC sections 120-B and 218. It acquitted ex-DSP SS Sidhu and ex-inspector Chaman Lal giving them benefit of doubt. Quantum of punishment will be announced on February 4.
