After Kanan Devi picked Sudha for her grandson Tej’s would-be wife, she bestowed her with priceless heirloom jewellery and blessed her.

As the wedding came closer, the secret weighed heavily on Sudha and she vowed to not be dishonest with Tej. However, every time she wanted to talk to Tej about her past, something would come in the way. On the other hand, Sudha and Tej took part in pre-wedding rituals together. On the very day of the wedding, Sudha decided to tell everything about her past to Tej in a letter. But, Sudha’s letter was swapped by Iman and Tej never got to read the actual letter. Later, as per Iman’s plan, Tej got a glance of a photo where Sudha was seen as a married woman. Tej got a shock seeing that photo and paused the wedding in the middle. Tej took Sudha aside and asked her about the truth of her past. When Tej confronted Sudha, she kept her composure and told him that she had written everything in that letter. However, upon reading the letter that was delivered to Tej, Sudha discovered that the letter was swapped.
Tej decided to break the marriage citing that no one in the Basu Mallick family had ever married a divorcee. Sudha agreed to the same saying that no one should bear the brunt of the past if they could not accept it. Tej finally made up his mind to go and tell his family that the wedding was off. On the other hand, Iman came up with her proposal to Tej and offered to marry him to fulfill her own ulterior motives.

When Tej decided to go and tell his family about Sudha’s truth, he was stopped by his own conscience. Tej took a moment and thought about the reputation of not just his family, but of Sudha and her family too. Tej got back to find Sudha and told her that they had to go ahead with the marriage to save their family’s reputation. Tej and Sudha decided to marry each other despite their differences and bitterness.
Will this marriage ever be a happy one?

‘Shubho Bibaho’ revolves around the journey of a divorced woman and how she defies the stigma of being a divorcee. On one hand, Sudha, the female protagonist, is a woman who chooses to focus on her professional life after handling a blow in her personal life. As she recovers from a failed marriage, her professional life takes a flight. On the other hand, Tej, the male protagonist, hails from an aristocratic business family. Despite being one of the most eligible bachelors in town, Tej is not that interested in settling down. In his mind, he will agree to marry whoever his family chooses for him. Meanwhile, Kanan Devi, the matriarch of Tej’s family, picks Sudha as the match for her grandson Tej.
‘Shubho Bibaho’ stars Sonamoni Saha as Sudha, as the female protagonist on the show. Honey Bafna is seen as the male lead Tej on the show.

Saswati Guhathakurta

plays the character of Kanan Devi, the matriarch. Sonamoni was last seen in ‘Ekka Dokka’, after ‘Mohor’, which aired on the same TV channel. On that show, she was paired up with Saptarshi Maulik. On the other hand, Honey Bafna has been a popular face on Bengali TV after working in serials like ‘Bokul Katha’, ‘Prothoma Kadambini’, ‘Sohag Jol’.
