Ranveer Singh deletes post after he mistakenly shares a picture of Maldives to promote Lakshadweep tourism

Amid the tension between India and Maldives, several Bollywood celebrities are using social media to stand in solidarity with the archipelago.
Celebrities such as Salman Khan, Kangana Ranaut,

Akshay Kumar

, Amitabh Bachchan and Shraddha Kapoor among others are urging people to explore the beauty of the islands of Lakshadweep.

also promoted domestic tourism, however, he mistakenly shared a 2016 picture of the Maldives instead of Lakshadweep in his tweet.

One of the social media users noticed the error, and the actor soon deleted the same. A few hours later, the actor again posted a note but this time without a picture.
Ranveer wrote on X, “This year let’s make 2024 about exploring India and experiencing our culture. There is so much to see and explore across the beaches and the beauty of our country. Chalo India let’s #exploreindianislands Chalo bharat dekhe.”

Responding to the post, a user wrote, “You are promoting Indian islands while putting a picture of Maldives. What is wrong with you, Ranveer?”

Maldivian minister's offensive remarks have provoked criticism, leading to calls for a tourist boycott of the Maldives.
