Several areas of Hyderabad, including HITEC City and Banjara Hills, experienced moderate to heavy rainfall on Monday, leading to a noticeable drop in the city's temperature.

Rain began in South Hyderabad and started spreading westward. Areas such as Kharaitabad, Rajendranagar, Lingampally, HITEC City, Gachibowli, and Kondapur witnessed incessant downpour.

Residents took to social media and shared videos and pictures of the pleasant weather and the ongoing rainfall in the city.

The respite in temperatures in Hyderabad came hours after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted rain and thunderstorm in the city. The weather department also issued a yellow alert in the city from June 17 till June 19.

"Thunderstorms, accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) very likely to occur at isolated places in Hyderabad and other districts," it said.

Meanwhile, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 34.4 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 25.9 degrees Celsius on Sunday. According to the IMD, temperatures are expected to reach 35 degrees Celsius by June 18 and then decrease to 33 degrees Celsius by June 21.

The city also witnessed continuous downpours last week with light to moderate rainfall in isolated areas accompanied by cloudy skies and gusty winds.

Scattered but intense rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms were reported in districts including Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Yadadri, Rangareddy, Kamareddy, Nizamabad, Nirmal, Adilabad, Jangaon, Nalgonda, Karimnagar, Hanmakonda, Warangal, Jagtial, Rajanna and Sircilla.
