Additinally, the National Exit Test (NeXT) is postponed by a year, and can now be expected to begin in 2025. Previously, the exam was scheduled to commence 2023 onwards.

The National Exit Test (NExT), aimed at simplifying medical licensing and admissions, is presently on hold in India. NExT was designed to substitute both NEET-PG for postgraduate studies and FMGE for foreign medical graduates, evaluating theoretical knowledge and practical skills through a two-part exam. Despite potential advantages like standardised assessments and enhanced practical skills, its execution has been postponed, with NEET-PG still serving as India's entry point for postgraduate courses in medical education.
