Following the issues in the
Malayalam film industry
after the unveiling of the
Hema Commission Report
, along with the issues regarding the sexual assault allegations against prominent actors, a new association named ‘
Progressive Filmmakers Association
’, is being formed. Now, the director Lijo Jose Pellissery who was rumored to be part of the association, denied the speculations.
Taking to his Facebook handle, the ‘Malaikottai Vaaliban’ director wrote that he is not a part of the new film collective that is reportedly being formed, even though the director supports the idea behind the formation of such an association of creative filmmakers. His post further read, “One day if I wish to be part of such an organization, then it will be officially declared by me. Until then, no news regarding me joining such an association is true and such reports are not spread with my knowledge.”

According to Manorama News, the new organization ‘Progressive Filmmakers Association’ is formed by Aashiq Abu, Anjali Menon, Rajeev Ravi, and Rima Kallingal. Aashiq Abu who will be spearheading the organization, reportedly said that the association is it’s beginning stage, with discussions happening in full swing.
On the work front, Lijo Jose Pellissery’s previous outing was with the period action drama movie ‘Malaikottai Vaaliban’ starring Mohanlal in the lead role as the titular character. The movie was presented in a folk tale-style narrative.
Meanwhile, Aashiq Abu has the most awaited film ‘Rifle Club’ starring Anurag Kashyap, Hanumankind, Dileesh Potha, Vani Vishwanath, and several others. The script of the most awaited film is penned by Syam Pushkaran, Dileesh Karunakaran, and Sharfu-Suhas.
