The Karnataka government has officially launched the 'Nipuna Karnataka' initiative, a programme designed to empower the state's youth with industry-relevant skills to meet the growing demands of the IT sector.
Speaking at the launch, Minister for Electronics and IT/BT Priyank Kharge highlighted the state’s commitment to fostering talent in the IT industry. 'Nipuna Karnataka' reflects our dedication to providing young individuals with the necessary skills to thrive in the competitive IT landscape," says Kharge.
MAIN FOCUS
The initiative focuses on bridging the gap between education and industry requirements through targeted training programmes and strong public-private partnerships.
With a budget of Rs 300 crore, the project is being implemented by the Karnataka State Electronics Development Corporation Limited (KEONICS) and the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM). Leading IT companies such as Infosys, Wipro, and TCS are playing a crucial role by contributing to curriculum development, training, internships, and placement opportunities.
'NIPUNA KARNATAKA' INITIATIVE
The initiative also plans to leverage corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds from IT firms to support infrastructure development and training resources, ensuring that students receive hands-on experience and job-ready skills.
Through 'Nipuna Karnataka,' the state government aims to position Karnataka as a global IT leader while creating vast employment opportunities for the younger generation.
