Grocery chain Lidl to open store at Queens Place Mall

ELMHURST, Queens (PIX11) – The grocery chain Lidl will be opening a new store at Queens Place Mall in Elmhurst on Wednesday.

A grand opening event will be held at 8 a.m. It will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony and music and offer free croissants, coffee and orange juice.

"For the first 100 customers in line, there will be a special $500 sweepstakes for anyone that has the myLidl app and selects Queens Place as their store in the app," a Queens Place Mall news release said.

Lidl is a German company with more than 12,000 stores throughout Europe. It expanded to the United States in 2017 and now has more than 150 locations across the East Coast, according to its website.
