E. coli outbreak linked to carrots kills 1, hospitalizes 15

NEW YORK (PIX11) -- An E. coli outbreak linked to organic baby and whole carrots has killed one person and sickened 15 others, including five in New York, according to the CDC.

A slew of carrots manufactured by Grimmway Farms was recalled Saturday, including brands like 365, Bunny Luv, and Trader Joe's, according to the CDC. Across the country, there have already been 39 cases reported and one death.

The carrots have been taken off shelves but would have been purchased between Aug. 14 and Oct. 23, according to the CDC. The best-if-used-by dates range from Sept. 11 to Nov. 12.

The CDC advises throwing any of these bagged organic carrots out and washing all surfaces they may have touched with hot soapy water.
