Panaji: The
Entertainment Society of Goa
(ESG) will host the State Film Festival in March 2025, said ESG chairperson Delilah Lobo as she urged local filmmakers to take advantage of it. She was speaking to reporters about the ‘Goan directors cut’ segment of the
International Film Festival of India
on Thursday.
The state film festival will include
feature and non-feature films
produced in the state. Lobo invited applications for financial assistance under the
film finance scheme
by Jan 18, 2025. “Goan filmmakers are extremely talented, but they lack funds to make and promote their films,” she said.
This year, Iffi received 25 entries from Goans in the feature and non-feature sections, of which 14 were selected for screening. The films that made it to the festival include ‘Kharvan’ by Nitya Navelkar, ‘Hanging by a Thread’ by Akshay Parvatkar, ‘Guntata Hriday He’ by Sainath Uskaikar and ‘Mai’ by Saujas Shetye.
Encouraging young filmmakers, Lobo asked them to register for the masterclasses at Iffi to learn more about films.
Director of Kuberans Tech Ventures Pvt Ltd, Jeet Vagh, said
that Goa will probably have a film institute by next year.
