NEW DELHI: Zubair Khan, a four-time
Congress MLA
from Alwar's Ramgarh seat, passed away in
Alwar
on Saturday morning.
He was 62 and had been unwell for some time.
Khan's wife, Shafia Zubair, stated that he died at 5.50 am. She mentioned that his funeral will be held in Ramgarh, Alwar, this evening.
Several political figures including
Governor Haribhau Bagade
, Chief Minister Bhajanalal Sharma, Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani, PCC chief Govind Dotasra, former chief minister Ashok Gehlot and former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot, expressed their condolences on Khan's death.
With Khan's passing, the number of Congress MLAs in the assembly has decreased to 65. Currently, seven seats in the 200-member house are vacant due to various reasons, including five MLAs elected in the Lok Sabha elections and the death of a BJP MLA.
