The much-awaited sequel of 'Pushpa: The Rise', 'Pushpa: The Rule,' starring Allu Arjun, Fahadh Faasil, and Rashmika Mandanna, will now be released in theatres on December 6, 2024. Arjun shared the announcement on social media along with a new poster on Monday, June 17. The film was initially scheduled for an Independence Day release.

Sharing the new poster on his Instagram handle, Allu Arjun wrote, "#Pushpa2TheRule in cinemas from December 6th, 2024 (sic)." The poster features Arjun's character Pushpa in a rugged avatar, holding a sword resting on his shoulder.

Following the announcement, the filmmakers shared an extended note to explain the delay. An official note on the X handle of Mythri Movie Makers read, "Pushpa 2 The Rule is one of the most anticipated Indian films. Following the immense success of Pushpa: The Rise, our responsibility to deliver excellence has increased significantly. We have been tirelessly working to complete the movie and release it one time. However, due to the remaining shoot and subsequent post-production work, we will not be releasing the film on August 15, 2024 (sic)."

It continued, "This decision is made in the best interest of the film, the audience and all stakeholders, our goal is to provide a memorable experience on the big screen without compromising the quality. The overall response to our teaser and songs across all languages has been heartening, and we promise to deliver a film that you will truly love (sic).'

If the film were to release on August 15, it would have clashed with Rohit Shetty's 'Singham Again' and Nikkhil Advani's 'Vedaa'. However, the makers of the former announced last week that the Ajay Devgn-starrer will be released on Diwali 2024.

Now, Akshay Kumar's 'Khel Khel Mein', Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor's 'Stree 2' and Puri Jagannadh's 'Double iSmart' will hit theatres on Independence Day 2024.

Meanwhile, the prequel 'Pushpa: The Rise' released in 2021. Helmed by Sukumar, the film featured Allu Arjun in the titular character, while Rashmika played Srivalli, his love interest. Fahadh Faasil portrayed SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, the primary antagonist.
