Batting first, Saurashtra lost opener Tarang Gohel in the second over, dismissed by Gurjanpreet Singh for a duck. But Desai and Prerak Mankad launched a counter-attack to add 99 runs in the next 51 balls, when the latter was ejected by Shahrukh Khan for 43 off 26 balls.
The carnage included five balls in the fourth over bowled by left-armer Sai Kishore to Desai, which were dispatched by the wicketkeeper-batter for 6, 4, 6, 4, 4.
However, Kishore had the last laugh as he dismissed Desai caught and bowled for 55 off 34 balls in the 11th over of the innings.
