Police say the suspect, Mirda Degracia, 52, called 911 at around 9:50 a.m.

Degracia claimed she stabbed a person in the chest after a man had broken into her house, police said.

Responding officers found the victim, Reynaldo Luna, 63, with five stab wounds to his chest and additional stab wounds to his neck, officials said. He was taken to the Jacobi Hospital and pronounced dead at 10:26 a.m.

Sometime after the stabbing, Degracia called Luna's relatives in the Dominican Republic, stating, "I killed your brother-in-law" and sent them a picture of his body, police said.

Police say Degracia has no prior history and this is her first arrest. There were no prior domestic incidents between Degracia and Luna, who were partners.
