NASSAU COUNTY, N.Y. (PIX11) – A dog bit an 81-year-old lady in Nassau County Friday evening, according to police.
Detectives received a 911 call for aid at a residence on Newburgh Street regarding a dog bite. Police said when they arrived, an 81-year-old victim had suffered multiple lacerations to various parts of her body.
The victim was transported to a local hospital to be evaluated for her injuries. She is expected to survive, police said.
The Nassau County Emergency Service Unit secured the dog.
The events leading to the dog bite remain unclear.
The breed of the dog is unknown at this time.
An investigation remains ongoing, authorities said.
