With a majority of districts in New York heavily Democratic, the winners in Tuesday's races are expected to also signal the outcome of the general election.

The seat grabbing the most attention is the 16th Congressional District in the Bronx and Westchester, where incumbent Rep. Jamaal Bowman is facing off against Westchester County Executive George Latimer.

There are also hotly contested races at the state level, including a challenge by two moderate candidates to unseat Brooklyn Assemblywoman Emily Gallagher.

There is also a race for District 35 in Queens to succeed the more than 30-year tenure of outgoing Assemblyman Jeffrion Aubry.
