on Tuesday said the escape of Suleman Mohammed ‘Siddique’ Khan from the crime branch’s custody could not have happened without the active connivance and involvement of the brass in the crime branch itself.
“The video shows IRB constable Amit Naik opening the lockup and taking the accused out of the cell. There is no other constable guard around, and there are CCTV cameras recording from which the footage has been obtained. Neither the constable concerned nor the accused look at any cameras even once. Why?” he asked.
Ferreira said the CCTV footage indicates the constable and Siddique were confident that this exercise was being done under the direction or even perhaps under the supervision of a higher-up. He called for the immediate suspension of the IPS officer mentioned in the video to ensure an unbiased investigation.
