In the recent times, there have been rumours about Vashu Bhagnani and Jaccky Bhagnani’s production house, Pooja Entertainment, hitting a roadblock. Several people, who claimed to have worked in the production company, said that they still have unpaid dues.
It was being said that the high production costs of the last few movies under the banner, and their box office failure, prompted the Bhagnanis to ‘sell’ the office. It was also said that the cost rose due to high fees of the actors, like Akshay Kumar. While Vashu Bhagnani clarified that the production house isn’t closing and that there have not been layoffs, now producer Sunil Darshan has made some shocking claims.
In an interview with a portal, Darshan was asked whether the rumour that Akshay Kumar charges a whopping Rs 165 crore per film is true. To that, he responded, “I can’t comment since the figure mentioned by you seems inaccurate. That seems to be closer to Tiger Shroff’s price.”
He confirmed that Tiger Shroff charges as much as Rs 165 crore for a film! When asked what Akshay Kumar’s fee would be then, he said, “I wouldn’t like to comment on that. But I will say this: Vashu Bhagnani enjoyed a ‘Midas Touch’ phase in the 1990s when he collaborated with David Dhawan for almost half a dozen movies.”
He continued, “The David-Vashu collaboration somewhere lost its sheen thereafter. Vashuji was a highly resourceful entrepreneur. He produced several films in the second phase, but success eluded him in movies through the past two decades even as he met with success in his construction business.”
Vashu Bhagnani had recently debunked all rumours. In a statement, he clarified that he will always be associated with Bollywood and said, “He concluded, “I love Bollywood and films. Bollywood is my jaan, this is the most emotional industry and people stick by you through thick and thin.”
He also spoke about the non-payment claims. Pooja Entertainment last produced the Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff-starrer ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’, which did not perform well at the box office. They have also produced films like ‘Mission Raniganj’, ‘Jawaani Jaaneman’, ‘BellBottom’, among others.
