TIMES SQUARE, Manhattan (PIX11) – Times Square will fill with the smell of Mexican, Italian, Indian food and more this Monday for the annual Taste of Times Square food frenzy.
Some 30 restaurants will set up camp on Duffy Square and the Broadway Plazas between 45th and 48th Streets between 5 and 9 p.m., offering a couple menu items for attendees to taste.
Hungry participants will load up a wristband with money to buy little portions of the restaurant’s best dishes, all under $10. Tastes will include eggplant parmesean from Carmine’s, samosas from Spice Symphony, sliders from Hard Rock Cafe, chili from Ellen’s Stardust Diner and Peking duck from Dim Sum Palace.
Then for the entire month of September, restaurants in Times Square will give special deals after 8 p.m., dubbed “the happiest hour,” organizers said.
And what’s good food without great ambiance? The singers from Ellen’s Stardust Diner, steelpan musicians, a DJ and other musicians will keep Times Square moving during the festival.
