The India Skills Report 2024 put out by the Confederation of Indian Industry, talent assessment player Wheebox and digital recruitment platform Taggd, said Telangana has emerged at the forefront of India’s technological landscape with a robust educational foundation and diverse talent base that excels in various domains.
This, it said, was evident from the state’s score in the Wheebox National Employability Test (WNET) in which 3.88 lakh candidates from various academic institutions across the country appeared.
Telangana saw 67.79% of those who took the test score over 60% in the WNET test, putting it sixth after Haryana, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Kerala in housing the most employable talent.
HYD PRIME DESTINATION FOR FOREIGN INVESTMENTS
The report also said Telangana’s capital Hyderabad had emerged as a prime destination for foreign investments and job opportunities in the country.
The report pointed out that the state houses the highest percentage of employable youth aged 18-21 years in the country at 85.45%, indicating a focus on skill development and education among the younger demographic that is aligned with the demands of the evolving job market.
STATE’S EMPLOYMENT SCENARIO NOTABLE
Telangana featuring prominently in the list of top states with available skills in English as a second language (68.75%), numerical skills (78.68%), critical thinking skills (37.7%) and computer skills indicates a well rounded and tech savvy workforce equipped with technological and quantitative competencies, it added.
“Telangana’s employment scenario is particularly noteworthy with a high percentage of BE & BTech graduates showcasing proficiency in critical domains,” it said, adding that the high availability of talent with numerical skills indicates the state’s focus on quantitative abilities that are important for roles in finance, data analytics and STEM domains.
TELANGANA TOP SCORER IN CRITICAL THINKING
On Telangana’s top scores in availability of critical thinking manpower, it said these skills are important in problem solving and innovation and states housing talent with this skillset are likely to witness advancements in R&D, technology and entrepreneurship.
“Telangana is a key player in India’s talent ecosystem driven by strong academic performance, a focus on technological skills and a diverse workforce with varying salary expectations,” it said.
