The Kolkata Police has identified 25 social media accounts that allegedly disclosed the identity of the trainee doctor who was raped and murdered at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. According to sources, the IP addresses of some of these accounts were traced to foreign lands, including Bangladesh.

Notices have been issued to the accounts and their handlers have been summoned to Lalbazar Police Station.

According to police sources, several foreign accounts are also under investigation. Investigators found that some of these posts were made using IP addresses from other countries and notices have been sent to those accounts as well.

The lawyer representing the victim's parents had informed the Supreme Court that some social media accounts had not removed her pictures despite the top court order.

The 31-year-old trainee doctor was found raped and murdered at RG Kar hospital on August 9. Her postmortem report revealed that she was throttled to death and there were deep wounds in her private parts.

The police arrested the main accused, Sanjay Roy the very next day.

Currently, the CBI is probing the case. Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, and a police inspector have also been arrested for allegedly trying to tamper evidence in the case.
