HOTLSVILLE, N.Y. (PIX11) -- Two sisters, ages two and four, were pulled from pond waters in an apparent drowning incident on Long Island Saturday evening, the Suffolk County Police Department said.
Officers from the fifth precinct responded to a 911 call at 3:16 p.m. A family member had reported the girls missing from the Fairfield Townhouses in Hotlsville, Long Island.
Upon arriving at the apartment complex, police and good samaritans searched the complex and the surrounding areas. The girls were discovered behind the complex in a pond at 3:20 p.m., police said.
The sisters were unresponsive. They were rushed to a local hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
The Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad is conducting a full investigation, authorities said.
