The daughter of a senior bureaucrat couple died after jumping from a high-rise near the state secretariat in Mumbai today, the police said.
Officials said Lipi Rastogi jumped from the 10th floor of the building at around 4 am.
Lipi Rastogi, daughter of Radhika and Vikas Rastogi, was rushed to a nearby hospital but she died during the treatment.
Police have also recovered a note from her room. A case of unnatural death has been registered and investigation is on to ascertain the reason behind the extreme step taken by the 27-year-old.
Sources say Lipi - a law student - had been anxious about her performance in exams. She was pursuing LLB at a law college in Haryana.
While Vikas Rastogi is the Principal Secretary, Maharashtra Education Department, Radhika Rastogi is the Principal Secretary at the state's Home Department.
