Ahead of Republic Day on January 26, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has issued a circular to states and union territories, urging them to ensure that flags made of paper, used by the public during important national, cultural, and sports events, are not discarded or thrown on the ground after the event.
"Such flags are to be disposed of privately, consistent with the dignity of the flag," the MHA statement read.
