NEW DELHI: After completing
recruitment
of 1.5 lakh employees,
Indian Railways
has started the process of recruiting 5,696
assistant loco pilots
(ALPs) even when there are only 3,190 vacancies.
Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that recruitment of personnel will increase with expansion of railway network.
During government's recent mega recruitment drive,
railways
took the lead in every round of handing over appointment letters.
"This (recruitment of ALPs) is the first step... There will be more employment opportunities in technical and non-technical popular categories and also in Group D," Vaishnaw said.
