QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) – A basement fire injured three civilians and killed a 72-year-old man in Queens on Thursday evening, officials said. An FDNY firefighter also sustained injuries.
Fire units responded to a 911 call at 94-18 132nd Street at about 5:14 p.m. Authorities said a fire in a residential home’s basement injured multiple people within the dwelling.
A fire truck with flashing lights, an ambulance, and neighborhood residents were outside as fire units were on the scene, a video posted to Citizen showed. Twelve fire units, comprising 60 FDNY members, contained the fire 30 minutes after the flames erupted, officials said.
The 72-year-old victim has not been named.
The Fire marshall will determine the cause of the blaze.
