BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) – Philippines Fest, the first Filipino street fair originating in New York City, is taking over Smorgasburg this weekend for two days to celebrate what might be the most purple food of all time – ube.
UBELAND will celebrate the beloved indigenous purple yam. Vendors are serving everything from ube ice cream, sandwiches, tacos and even tempura on June 15 and 16, according to the Philippines Fest Instagram page.
"We're creating a wonderland of ube," Philippines Fest director Augelyn Francisco, who is also the chef and owner of KABISERA, said.
UBELAND will be held at Smorgasburg Williamsburg on Saturday and Smorgasburg Prospect Park on Sunday. For more information, including a list of all the vendors, click here.
