Purab Kohli, best known for films like 'Rock On', 'Awarapan', and 'Woh Lamhe', expressed his desire to work in a romantic film. The actor who juggles between India and the UK for work feels that commercial Bollywood cinema is focused primarily on action and thriller genres, neglecting romantic films.
PURAB KOHLI WOULD LOVE TO PLAY A ROMANTIC LEAD IN A BOLLYWOOD FILM
Speaking exclusively with India Today.in, Purab Kohli said, "I miss playing a romantic character who is feeding love and romance. I have not done that for a while. Also, I haven't seen a nice sweet romance for a while, everything's like a strong message-driven, dark, thriller, or action film. I mean, that's the stuff that I see coming out in commercial Bollywood cinema, lots of action right now. I think a nice, sweet romantic film would be lovely, and I would love to play a part in that and play the romantic lead in that."
PURAB ON A RECENT FILM HE LOVED WATCHING
When asked about a recent film or series that he enjoyed watching, he said, "I just happened to see something recently, a film that was released in India, I'm not sure about the year, but it's called 'Court' (2014). If you haven't seen it, definitely see it. I just saw it and I think it's one of the most beautiful pieces of cinema I've seen in a long time, so hats off to Chaitanya Tamhane, the director of the film. What a brilliant film he made. I was just blown away by it and moreover, I haven't been to Mumbai for a very long time, so it was so nice to see because the film doesn't have a sort of straightforward story. It's got so many layers and so many stories in it and even in a single frame, you can see so many stories of the city of Mumbai being told in single long-held frames. Hats off to him, it's a little late in the day. I saw the film after 10 years after it was made. But I'm glad I saw it and it was such a beautiful film that he made. So anyway, that's the most recent film I have seen."
