Panaji: Trijoy Dias
is discovering that life in the higher leagues isn’t easy.
The Churchill Brothers forward has had a good season so far, first helping Goa qualify for the final round of the National Football Championship for the Santosh Trophy and then scoring goals regularly for his team in the Pro League.
Now, the 24-year-old has been promoted to the senior team in the
I-League
and remains eager to prove a point.
“It’s not easy to make the transition from the Pro League to I-League,” said Trijoy. “I have played two matches, both in the second half, and I didn’t get any chance to score. I am trying my best. It’s difficult and I need time to improve a lot of things with my game.”
Trijoy, who started his career Sporting Clube de Goa, grabbed everyone’s attention when he played a stellar role for Goa at the Santosh Trophy qualifiers played at home. He has potential and will have to first fight his way into the starting 11.
“It’s nice to be in the dressing room. These are big (reputed) players. The foreigners are good, everything is so different. I just need to prove myself,” said Trijoy.
