Across-the-board selling
mainly due to profit booking at around 72,000-mark for the sensex, dragged down the index by 671 points on Monday to close at 71,355.
HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and ITC were the top drags for the index. The day's slide left investors poorer by Rs 2.7 lakh crore with BSE's market capitalisation now at nearly Rs 373 lakh crore.
