Prime Minister Narendra Modi graced the 38th convocation ceremony of Bharathidasan University in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. Alongside PM Modi, the convocation ceremony was also attended by Chief Minister MK Stalin and Governor RN Ravi.
While addressing the convocation, PM Modi congratulated and extended his best wishes to the graduating students.
Bringing up ancient centres of learning such as Nalanda and Takshashila universities, PM Modi said, "Our nation and civilisation have always been centred around knowledge. Some of our ancient universities such as Nalanda and Takshashila are well known and regarded for their grandeur and excellence even today," as reported by ANI.
He further added,"There have also been references in our celebrated ancient texts to places such as Kanchipuram housing great universities and centres of learning. Gangaikonda Cholapuram and Madurai were also great seats of learning in the ancient times."

DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS AND INAUGURATIONS
The Prime Minister's visit to the southern region spanned a comprehensive two-day itinerary brimming with significant events. Notably, PM Modi inaugurated, dedicated, and laid the foundation stones for a plethora of developmental projects amounting to an impressive Rs 19,850 crore.
These initiatives, spanning diverse sectors such as aviation, rail, road, oil and gas, shipping, and higher education, symbolise a concerted effort to foster regional progress.
As part of this visit, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the newly constructed terminal building at Trichy airport, developed at a cost exceeding Rs 1100 crore. This cutting-edge infrastructure features a two-level international terminal designed to accommodate over 44 lakh passengers annually and approximately 3,500 during peak hours.
The PMO had previously disclosed these details through an official release, emphasising the terminal's pivotal role in meeting the region's air travel demands.
