LUCKNOW: Ahead of the arrival of a galaxy of chief justices, political leaders, sportspersons and cine stars to the city for the Ram Temple consecration ceremony,
Lucknow police
has braced itself with skills of
celebrity visit management
and escorting VVIPs.
Joint Commissioner of police, law and order, Upendra Agarwal, said that a special squad of 500 police personnel has been readied.
“We have taught them some basic skills of management and escorting the VVIPs,” said the officer. The rooms and other facilities in the city are being taken care by the district administration of the city.
Agarwal said special preparation had been made for traffic movement on three main routes of
Ayodhya
, including via Kamta, Chinhat, Barabanki and other two routes via Sultanpur Road via Purvanchal Expressway or Kisan Path. “No vehicle is allowed to park on these routes, while e-rickshaws will not run on main roads,” he said.
In a meeting attended by DCP (East/Traffic), Additional DCP, (East/South/Traffic) and others, Agarwal said, “Police should not allow any vehicle to stop at the main intersections for boarding passengers. No e-rickshaws, buses, passenger vehicles, etc can stop at intersections.” Policemen engaged on route duty will behave cordially with visitors and provide information about the routes on being enquired. If any vehicle breaks down on any route, it will be removed immediately with the help of cranes deployed on routes.
“If there is a delay in removal of the stranded vehicle, oncoming traffic must be forewarned,” said the JCP.
A senior officer told TOI that Olympians Yogeshwar Dutt, Karnam Malleswari, mountaineer Bachendri Pal, cricketer Venkatesh Prasad and from the entertainment industry, singer-composer Shankar Mahadevan, producer Vipul Shah, industrialists and businessmen Radhey Shyam Goenka and Hari Mohan Bangur are a few names from the list of guests.
Chief justices of all states and nine former chief justices of India are also arriving here on January 20 and 21. The officer said around 700 VIPs and 200 state guests are expected to arrive in Lucknow from where they will head for Ayodhya.
