PATERSON, N.J. (PIX11) – New Jersey's third-largest school district is holding a job fair for teachers on Wednesday in hopes of filling 123 vacancies.
The Paterson Public Schools job fair will be at 90 Delaware Ave. in Paterson from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. You have to register before attending.
Attendees will have the opportunity to interview with Paterson principals to find a position that fits their qualifications.
The district had 166 vacancies in August. Superintendent Dr. Laurie Newell previously told PIX11 News that a shortage of teachers wasn't only affecting Paterson, but the rest of the U.S. as well.
“It’s not necessarily a Paterson problem; we have had a nationwide shortage of teachers, and it has been compounded since COVID. For our kids to really learn, they need to have qualified instructors in front of them,” Newell said.
