CENTRAL PARK (PIX11) – Central Park becomes a town of Halloween this October.
Carve pumpkins and watch them float across one of Central Park’s famous lakes during “Halloween on the Harlem Meer” on Oct. 30. The free event for all ages runs from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Bring your own carved pumpkins and watch them float across the Harlem Meer lake during the park’s annual Pumpkin Flotilla parade. Spooky Halloween tunes will provide a soundtrack as jack-o’lanterns make their way across the water.
Ahead of the flotilla, families can also take part in some not-so-spooky story time and watch a bewitching magic show.
The Pumpkin Floatilla has been a tradition at Central Park since the early 1990’s when it started at The Pool near 101st Street. It was originally known as the Pumpkin Sail but was renamed the Pumpkin Flotilla in 1993 when it moved to the Harlem Meer.
