The OnePlus 12 will launch in India on January 23.
OnePlus will be launching its much-awaited flagship phone, the OnePlus 12, in three weeks from now and excitement around the phone is palpable. Tech enthusiasts as well as OnePlus fans are eagerly waiting for the phone's India launch so that they can get to experience it themselves. The OnePlus 12 made its debut in China last month, and the India launch is slated to happen on January 23, which is just a couple of days away. Even though we will not know the official India price of the OnePlus 12 before the launch, rumours have it that the base variant phone will cost less than Rs 60,000 in India.
While we aren’t sure of the price yet, we do know the phone’s features that got the tech world talking. Read on to know about all we know about the phone, weeks before its launch.
Performance upgrades
The OnePlus 12 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which is the latest flagship processor in the market. This chipset also supports one-device AI, promising to make AI-related tasks faster and more secure. And since we already know that the future is all about AI, this is surely a feather in OnePlus' cap.
Due to the latest processor, users can also expect faster performance from the phone. The same chip has been a part of a few premium phones already and it has received positive reviews.
The RAM is another highlight of the phone as in China, we saw a 24GB RAM variant as well, which is more than what some laptops offer. While we are not sure if the 24GB RAM variant will be available in India or not, it is definitely worth mentioning here.
Display and design
The OnePlus 12 comes with a 6.82-inch QHD+ display with an LTPO AMOLED panel and refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Hence, the phone promises a smooth performance with an enhanced user experience. With that being said, the key highlight of the phone remains its brightness. The OnePlus 12 comes with a peak brightness of a whopping 4,500 nits. This makes the phone brighter than most other smartphones in the market so if you are somebody who uses their phone a lot outdoors, in the bright sunlight, this might just be a great option for you.
In addition to this, the panel also supports Dolby Vision, 10 bit Color Depth, and ProXDR. The display also comes with an A+ certification from DisplayMate, meaning it has one of the best displays in the industry.
The OnePlus 12 will be available in three colour options- Pale Green, Rock Black, and White. While the Black and White options look gorgeous as well, people are much more excited about the green hue, which gives it a unique touch.
In addition to introducing a new colour option, the company has also placed the alert slider on the left side of the phone. This means that on the right edge, the power and volume buttons have a little more breathing room.
Battery and charging speed
Wireless charging has become pretty standard for top-notch phones. But not many of them are as speedy. The OnePlus 12, however, offers up to 50W for wireless charging and 100W when you plug it in. According to OnePlus, if you use a wire to charge, you can go from 0 to 100 percent in just 26 minutes. Impressive, right?
In addition to the promising charging speed, the phone also comes with a 5,400 mAh battery.
The phone also supports reverse charging and the brand claims that even after being charged about 1,600 times, it's supposed to keep 80 percent of its battery capacity.
About the Camera
The OnePlus 12 also has camera improvements when compared to the previous phone. It will come with a triple rear camera setup, consisting of a 50-megapixel main camera with Sony LYT-808 and OIS, a 64MP periscope camera with 3x optical zoom, and a 48MP ultra-wide camera.
The camera further includes Hasselblad Colour Calibration and supports recording videos at up to 8K resolution. Additionally, the phone has a 32MP front-facing camera for selfies and video calls.
