NEW DELHI: AIMIM chief
Asaduddin Owaisi
claimed that the speech by
President Droupadi Murmu
lacked originality and failed to address crucial issues such as
unemployment
and the concerns of minorities.
Owaisi further criticised the government's handling of the
NEET exam
, saying the lives of 25 lakh youth and their families were being jeopardised due to the frequent occurrence of paper leaks."In the entire address, there was no mention of minorities or unemployment.
US State Secretary Antony Blinken said yesterday that there has been an increase in hate speech in India and religious places of minorities are getting demolished,” said AIMIM MP.
"There was nothing new in the address, it was like an old wine in a new bottle...Re-NEET should have been done. There are paper leaks everywhere. They are playing with the lives of 25 lakh youth and their families ...", he added.
Owaisi was responding to President Murmu’s remarks where she strongly condemned the imposition of the Emergency in 1975 under the Congress government led by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. She described it as "the biggest and darkest chapter of the direct attack on the Constitution" and praised the nation's victory against such unconstitutional powers.
The President's address has drawn reactions from leaders of the INDIA bloc, with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of attempting to gain cheap applause by making the President deliver a speech filled with lies. Kharge claimed that the people of India had already rejected these lies in the 2024 elections and criticized the President's address as an attempt by Modi to deny the public mandate, which he believed was against the BJP.
The President in her address also assured the nation that major economic and social decisions, as well as historical steps, would be announced during the upcoming Union Budget in the Parliament sessions. She expressed confidence in the government's ability to fulfill the aspirations of people, as evidenced by the stable majority government formed after six decades and the trust placed in it by the people for the third time.
