NYPD deputy commissioner discusses Central Park crime and summer safety

NEW YORK (PIX11) -- NYPD Deputy Commissioner Tarik Sheppard joined PIX on Politics on Sunday to discuss summer safety and recent crimes in Central Park.

Sheppard mentioned the possibility of adding more security, including solar-powered cameras, especially in the park's more remote sections.

Sheppard also discussed preparations for the Pride March and Fourth of July fireworks show, saying the police are not aware of any credible threats for either event.

"We prepare for anything. The Fourth of July is one of our crown jewel events, and we are going to keep it safe," he said.
