NEW YORK (PIX11) --- New York City is home to the best pizzerias in the world, beating out two Italian cities for the honor, according to a new report.
The Big Apple has seven world-class pizza spots, compared to six in Rome, Naples, and Tokyo, according to a study in Chef's Pencil, a food magazine. New York has had the most pizzerias rank in the top 100 worldwide in the last three years.
Two weeks, ago Una Pizza Napoletana on the Lower East Side was named the best pizzeria in the world, according to the website Top 50 Pizza.
"Not only does New York have the best pizzeria of 2024, but it also boasts the highest number of pizza places ranked among the world’s best," according to the report.
The city has also had 34 pizzerias rank in the top 50 in the country in the past five years.
Gotham, however, did not make the list of the most pizza-obsessed cities in the world, according to the survey. That distinction went to Philadelphia, Naples, and Turin based on Google searches.
October is National Pizza Month.
