NY, NJ gets break from high heat before temps return to 90s

NEW YORK (PIX11) -- The tri-state area will get some relief from the extreme heat Monday, but temps will jump up above 90 again by Tuesday and Wednesday.

High pressure will bring Canadian air back into the region providing relief from the heat for the start of the workweek. The afternoon will bring mostly sunny skies this afternoon with lower humidity levels. The high will be 82 in the city and low to mid 80s in the suburbs.

Tuesday will be sunny again as winds will shift to the west and southwest during the afternoon. The high temperature will be 92 in the city and upper 80s to low 90s in the suburbs.

Wednesday will be hot and humid with a chance of late day showers and thunderstorms as a front will move toward the region from the west. The high will be 96 in the city and mid to upper 90s over the suburbs.

Clouds and rain will return early Thursday followed by clearing skies in the afternoon as high pressure will move in from the west. The high will be 84 in the city and low to mid 80s in the suburbs.

Friday will be sunny and pleasant as high pressure will dominate the weather for the region. The high will be 80 in the city and upper 70s to low 80s in the suburbs.
