Nurse organizes fashion show for World Sickle Cell Awareness Day on Long Island

NEW HYDE PARK, N.Y. (PIX11) -- Besides celebrating Juneteenth on Wednesday, World Sickle Cell Awareness Day is a disease affecting more than 20 million people worldwide.

One local nurse decided a fashion show would help spread the much-needed awareness. Eleven patients between the ages of three and twenty threw on donated suits and gowns and hit the runway.
