CHANDIGARH: Dismissing talks of
alliance
with the
AAP
in Punjab for the
Lok Sabha
elections, state
Congress
president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring Wednesday said he had received no such communication from the high command. He emphasised that the party’s state unit had been instructed to prepare for all 13 parliamentary seats.
The opposition INDIA bloc convened a meeting in New Delhi on December 19, but there was no decision regarding seat-sharing.
Punjab Congress has been resisting a tie-up with the AAP for the elections, but of late, there have been confusing signals from the party.
Warring said speculation about the alliance was being made for the past six months, but he would be in a position to speak on the issue only after getting confirmation from Congress president
Mallikarjun Kharge
and party leader Rahul Gandhi.
“We have received instructions to prepare for all 13 Lok Sabha seats. Following these directives, the state unit has initiated the development of a strategy considering the caste combination. Currently, the Congress is set to contest all 13 parliamentary seats,” Warring said.
