NJ Transit travel alternatives for May 19

NEW JERSEY (PIX11) -- NJ Transit and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers & Trainmen reached a tentative deal to end the strike that halted NYC routes Sunday evening.

NJ Transit announced on X that full rail service will restart on Tuesday, as it takes around 24 hours to inspect and prepare the infrastructure.

Supplemental bus service from four regional Park & Rides will be in place and operating on Monday, May 19. 

Here’s where you can park and catch a ride to or from New York City on a bus:

Buses to New York City

  • Secaucus Junction Bus Plaza to Port Authority Bus Terminal, 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.
  • PNC Arts Center to Port Authority Bus Terminal, 5 a.m. to 8 a.m.
  • Hamilton Rail Station to Newark Penn Station for PATH Transfer, 5 a.m. to 9 a.m.
  • Woodbridge Center Mall to Harrison PATH Station, 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Buses from New York City

  • Port Authority Bus Terminal to Secaucus Junction Bus Plaza, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Port Authority Bus Terminal to PNC Arts Center, 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Newark Penn Station to Hamilton Rail Station, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Harrison PATH Station to Woodbridge Center Mall, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

NJ Transit is also adding capacity to these bus routes:

  • Northeast Corridor: 108, 112, 115 and 129 bus routes
  • North Jersey Coast Line: 116 and 133/135 bus routes
  • Raritan Valley Line: 112 and 113 bus routes
  • Morris & Essex Lines: 107 bus route
  • Montclair-Boonton Lines: 193 and 324 bus routes
  • Main/Bergen County Lines: 145, 163, 164 and 190 bus routes
  • Pascack Valley Line: 163, 164 and 165 bus routes

NJ Transit strongly encourages those who can work from home on Monday to do so and limit traveling on the NJ TRANSIT system to essential purposes only.
