NFL experts mostly love the Jarquez Hunter pick for the Rams

9 hours ago 5

The Los Angeles Rams drafted Jarquez Hunter with the No. 117 despite rostering two solid running backs already in Kyren Williams and Blake Corum. Hunter was very productive in college but should start third on the depth chart behind Williams and Corum.

Experts, though, mostly love the selection because Hunter is a good overall prospect. So, despite positional need, pundits believe the Rams added an underrated and skillful player at an impact position. Hunter is also similar enough to the Rams' current depth chart that he should be an easy plug and play addition to the offense.

Here are what some experts think about the Rams' selection of Jarquez Hunter.

USA Today's Ayrton Ostly: A-

"Los Angeles has capable running backs on their roster already but Hunter adds another element to the backfield. He's a compact, aggressive running back who runs downhill and hits the whole without losing speed. He'll be a good compliment to Kyren Williams."

CBS Sports' Chris Trapasso: A

"Chiseled, high-energy, super-productive SEC RB with the cutting skill and contact balance to thrive in the NFL. Vision of an experienced runner. Sharp cuts. Love his North-South approach. Another smart Rams selection. My comparison was ironically Kyren Williams."

Bleacher Report's Brent Sobleski: C+

"The Los Angeles Rams couldn’t hold their water, so they traded up to get Auburn’s Jarquez Hunter, who is a slashing runner with home-run potential. His explosive skill set will fit well alongside Kyren Williams and Blake Corum, who are good runners but lack juice when they get to the second and third levels."
