NEW YORK (PIX11) -- The Subway Series isn't played only on the baseball field. As the Mets host the Yankees for the battle of the boroughs, another competition can heat up.

What's the winning train line in the city? The No. 7 train serves Citi Field in Queens, and the B/D and No. 4 train run to Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

MTA statistics from this month show that trains on No. 7 meet performance schedules 89% of the time.

That beats the B and D, among the lowest in the system and below average for all the lines. The No. 4 train comes in around 82%.

Additional trains are staged for the crowds on game days. Thousands of people take transit, including nearby railroads.

Fans say they enjoy the rivalry even as life-long friends.

The next Subway Series will be played in the Bronx on July 23 and 24.
