Neighbors rescue 9-year-old boy from Long Island pool: police

SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y. (PIX11) – Neighbors rescued a 9-year-old boy who was found unresponsive at the bottom of a residential pool on Long Island, N.Y., Friday evening, according to police. 

The incident occurred in Nesconset, N.Y., and officers from the fourth precinct responded to a 911 call reporting the situation.

Officials said neighbors quickly removed the boy from the pool and immediately called 911. They also performed CPR on the boy until first responders arrived, officials said.

The boy was rushed to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Suffolk County Police detectives are conducting a full investigation into the incident, authorities said.
