Panaji: Chief minister

Pramod Sawant

on Wednesday said that the

National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management

(

NCSCM

), Chennai, will submit the 1:4,000 scale maps of the

Coastal Zone Management Plan

(CZMP) 2011 within three weeks and those plans will be circulated to all panchayats to seek objections and suggestions so that

CZMP 2011

plan can be finalised.
Sawant said that after CZMP 2011 is finalised, state govt will commence work on CZMP 2019.
He said that state will be allowed to have 50m set back from the high tide line and it will provide relief to the people of Goa. Sawant urged the people to cooperate with the departments to finalise the CZMP
“Within three weeks we will receive 1:4,000 scale maps. We will first finalise CZMP 2011 and then work will start to finalise the CZMP 2019,” the chief minister said.

The National Centre for Earth Science Studies (

NCESS

), Thiruvananthapuram, has told state govt that the CZMP 2019 will be completed by Jan 2025.
State govt had sought time from the Centre until May 2024 to complete the plan. It had also sought permission to issue approvals to projects based on the CZMP 2011 in the interim.

After initial reluctance, the NCSCM agreed to generate the CZMP 2011 maps in a 1:4,000 scale and pave the way for finalisation of CZMP 2019 for the state.
Govt had removed the discrepancies in the 2011 CZMP maps and submitted them to the NCSCM to carry out corrections in the plan to finalise the CZMP for 2019.
